Cool Kid

It's been so fun to watch Lylee this past year and see her little personality develop. She is a very happy, independent, silly girly girl.

~She loves her family. Taylor is her favorite person in the whole entire world. She will gladly follow him anywhere and do whatever he tells her to do. She is a self proclaimed guardian of Taylor's cars when he is not around. (I think that he must have sworn her in at birth.)

~She loves food. She has tried every single food that we have offered her. She also loves the social part of having a meal. She loves to be at the table and part of the whole experience.

~Lylee loves to get dressed up. She knows when she is wearing something special and thinks it's great. The only problem is that she likes to see her hair bows, so they usually don't last long in her hair.
~Lylee is bound and determined to do anything that she sets her mind to do. This is great and also terrifying from a mom's perspective.
~ Her smile is absolutely infectious and she brightens every place that she enters. We're so lucky to have her as part of our family!

Bad Mommy Moment

Last week Taylor had his swim lessons, and he loved them, except for the last one on Friday. He didn't want to get in the pool. Once he got in, he didn't want anything to do with either or his teachers. He completely ignored both of them for the first several minutes of the 30 minute lesson. Eventually he gave in and happily participated.
On Saturday, he mentioned that his neck and throat hurt a little. I gave him some Tylenol and he seemed better except that he has been a disaster child and has been acting naughty all week. He and I have been butting heads daily.
Yesterday I was telling Taylor that I had to go to the doctor and that I needed him to be my big helper since Daddy would be working. Taylor looked at me and told me that he needed to go to the doctor too. I asked him what was wrong with him and he told me that his neck and throat were still hurting. I wasn't sure and felt a little silly calling the doctor. I decided I'd rather look like a moron for taking a healthy kid to the doctor than have a sick kid and not know it. So I canceled my appointment and we went to our pediatrician.
Taylor hopped right up on the table, opened his mouth wide and said AAAHHH. She looked in his throat and told me that it was bright red. Then she looked in his ears, looked at me and asked if we'd been swimming. I felt terrible as the past week flashed through my head. She told us that he has swimmer's ear in both ears and gave us an RX for ear drops. Taylor hopped off the table and asked if he could please have his sucker now. The doctor got out the sucker box and Taylor and Lylee each picked out their reward.

Happy Easter!!!!

Taylor and Lylee in their Easter outfits. We actually made it through all of church with only a little bit of 3 year old drama.

Thanks!

Hunting for Fun

We must live on a very special street. Every year, the Easter Bunny also leaves eggs in everyone's front yard! This year is especially great since the weather has been sunny and dry. Lylee got mad at me for emptying the eggs. She likes to shake them and dance!

Hippity Hoppity...

Easter's Here!!! The kids were SO excited to find their Easter baskets this morning! They have both had huge grins all morning. This is one of those holidays that is definately much more fun with kids!

Pre - Easter Fun

We always have a bunny cake. I first made them as a beehive for a camp fundraiser. I think we've had one just about every Easter since. Taylor put all of the candy on the bunny by himself for the first time.

Since Taylor and his daddy are so into Star Wars, I was excited to find this Star Wars egg decorating kit. Chris lined them up for their picture. (Left to right: Darth vader, Yoda, C-3PO, and R2D2.) Do you think they know that tomorrow they will be egg salad sandwiches and deviled eggs???

Jacci and Hyrum came and helped color eggs too. I think Hyrum wanted to eat them.

Taylor really got into decorating this year. He colored eggs with crayons, put them in the egg coloring and even covered some with Star Wars stickers.

Lylee definately wanted to eat them. She liked the yellow water too.

Aloha

Grandma Cathy and Grandpa Keith sent these cute outfits that they got the kids when they went to Hawaii. Taylor has worn the shirt to church and everyone loved it! Soon it will be warm enough to wear our summer clothes all the time. We can hardly wait!
Thanks Grandma & Grandpa!!!

Mission Accomplished

Taylor LOVED swim lessons everyday...

except for today. He didn't even want to get in the water. So he completely ignored his teacher for the first several minutes. Thankfully they have a teacher or assistant for each kid.

I don't know what she said or did, but she got him swimming!!!

At the end of the last class, everyone in the pool from every class does the hokey pokey in the pool. Afterwards, everyone sits in a big circle and the kids get their report card and a sucker. We had a very fun week getting our feet wet for swim season!!

Happy St. Patty's Day!

Do you like green mac & cheese? Lylee loved it of course, she'll eat anything. Taylor wasn't so sure. He completely refused to even taste it and told me that mac & cheese is supposed to be yellow, but he might eat it if it was red (he LOVES red). Finally I told him that if he took one bite then he could have chicken nuggets. He had one bite, finished the whole bowl and then had chicken nuggets! Yay! It's not too often that I have a success with my picky eater boy. Maybe next week I'll make him red mac & cheese, you know, when he's eight.

Taylor the Duck

Today is the first day of Spring Break. Since we're sticking around town I decided to put Taylor in swim lessons for the week. Taylor is the only boy in a class of nine kids. There is a teacher for each kid, so the kids think that is super cool to have their own swim buddy. We just got home from his first lesson and he is in absolute Heaven! He can't wait to start swimming at Grandma Vicki's. He's already called her to find out when we can swim at her house.

Pigtails!!!

Lylee woke up from her nap with "mad scientist hair". She's suddenly got curls since her birthday. They are extremely cute and fun. Anyway, I thought I'd see if I could get her hair into mini piggy tails and she looks so stinkin' cute! Surprisingly, she has yet to touch them and they are still in.

The Boys

Taylor loves his new cousin Hyrum. He just doesn't understand why Hyrum can't grow up faster so that he can play sooner. He wants to know if Hyrum can play with him next week.
Taylor also is sure that next will be his own birthday and he will be eight years old.

Picnic at the Temple

On Tuesday we took Aunt Cassie to the Sacramento Temple for a picnic. It is a favorite family picnic spot for us. The grounds are beautiful and you can't beat the view. We even had a couple of geese who wanted to join us. After our picnic, we took a little walk around the temple. This has been such a great opportunity to talk with Taylor about the temple. It is so wonderful to have such a beautiful temple so close to our house!
After we left the temple we went to the outlets to birthday shop for Cassie and get our kids new shoes. I have been dreading the shoe shopping, but it went really well. Both Taylor and Lylee actually cooperated!
