Proud Moment for Dad

This is a great moment for two reasons. 1) Our kids are playing together with absolutely no drama! 2) Taylor is teaching Lylee all about Star Wars! Star Wars is definately Daddy's favorite movie of all time. He has always been thrilled that Taylor is almost as enthusiastic about Star Wars as him. He loves their (Taylor and Daddy's) collection. They have lightsabers, potato heads, books, and little action figures. So you can just imagine how excited Chris was to learn that Taylor has been instructing Lylee in the ways of the Jedi. Taylor's most favorite is Darth Vader with Chewbunka in distant second. I wonder how long he'll want to hang out on the dark side.

Aunt Cassie

Aunt Cassie has been visiting us for the last week. The kids both love her and think that she is G-R-E-A-T! Lylee loves to have someone to hold her when Mommy and Daddy are busy and Taylor has been absolutely thrilled to finally have a roommate! It's so fun when we get to have visitors!

Hey, it's Hyrum!

One day old.

Jacci had her baby yesterday afternoon. His name is Hyrum Dewey Monreal. He is very cute and we are all in love with him already. Last night, Chris brought the kids over to meet him. Taylor was very excited, but also confused. He wanted to know if we had two babies now. We explained that Hyrum is the baby that lived in Jacci's tummy that we've been waiting for. It's totally understandable that he thought Hyrum was coming home with us, since last time he went to that hospital we brought Lylee home.

Mac 'n Cheesey

Lylee LOVES to eat. As soon as we put her in the highchair she gets happy, every single time. Yesterday, we were at Costco and she didn't get to try a sample that Taylor got and she actually screamed. Yes, she really loves food.

Nighty night

I can't remember the last time that Taylor did not end up in our bed at some point in the night. He comes in our room, climbs up on the bed, lays down and is sound asleep.

More Valentines Fun

Chris got my favorite flowers, gerber daisies, a new journal, and yummy chocolates. Then Taylor handed me this pink canvas bag. I couldn't figure out what it could possibly be, except maybe some scrapbooking something or other. I was so surprised and thrilled when I looked inside and found all new tools, just for me. AND they are PINK!! I have wanted my own tools forever. Who knew? Get a girl flowers and tools and you've got the perfect Valentine!

I made heart shaped muffins. I'm definately a metal or glass pan girl. But the silicon was a fun experiment. Taylor thought they were cool.

Our Valentine's Day cake. I love these pans. My mom has had them since I was a very little girl, so it's always fun to borrow them. Taylor has finally gotten brave enough to stick his finger in the frosting! I never thought I'd have a kid who was so tidy and neat. He licked his fingers and then went to wash his hands!

My Little Valentines

Lylee totally knows when she's getting dresses for something special. It's so funny. She giggled the whole time that I was getting her dressed. I think Taylor's been filling her in on Valentine's Day too. He's been so excited!

Apparently this is Taylor's new favorite pose. This is his Valentine mailbox that he made at school. He didn't even care when I had to throw away all of the treats that had strawberry. He just said, "That's ok Mom, I know that I can't eat strawberry stuff." I was so happy. I was worried about a total melt down.
Yes, Sir. This is the Lovasaurus. He definately gives the best hugs in town, so the name is fitting. He's been giving great hugs all day. In case you didn't know, Valentine's Day is Hug Day too.

It's back...

Yep, I'm a Jericho Nut. I have been waiting since May to find out what is going on with the town, the country and all of my favorite characters. Well, last night I finally got my Jericho fix. I was definately not let down. The only thing that disappointed me was the knowledge that there are only going to be six more episodes!! I'm so glad that there is finally a captivating show for me to watch again. I can't wait to see what's going to happen the rest of the season, however short it may be. I also can't wait to see what's going to happen with the characters that we didn't get to see last night. Yay for good TV!!!!!

Workshop Kid

About a month ago my dad took Taylor to Lowe's free worksop for kids to make a truck. Taylor thought this was the greatest thing ever! Every time that we even get close enough to see the Lowe's sign Taylor starts talking about "the workshop place".

Last Saturday, February 9th, they were making Valentine's mailboxes fot the workshop. Chris took Taylor and again it was the highlight of the week! They give each kid an apron and goggles. When the kids finish their project for the day they get a patch for Mom to sew on their apron. Taylor loves his "workshop clothes" and his special patches. I guess that Lowe's does these workshops every other Saturday. The boys, Taylor and Dad or Grandpa plan to make this a regular thing. What a great way to get kids interested in tools and building! I'm excited to have my own little handy man some day! Go Taylor!!!!

Sunday...

Sundays have been interesting since we started primary and 1:00 church. Lylee tries to nap until right before church, which is why she's not too thrilled in the picture. I really just hope to absorb the spirit while I try and keep track of my kids. Taylor is tired and for some reason he is scared of sharing time, so I get to enjoy sharing time with him for now. He's fine in his class and when we get home, but all week long he tells us that he doesn't want to go to his new class at church. It's just been really sad because he has always loved everything about church and looked forward to going all week every week. We're working really hard as a family to make church a positive experience for Taylor again.

Super Tuesday

Today is Super Tuesday and we get to vote. I have voted in every election since I was 18 and feel very strongly that everyone who is able to vote has a responsiblilty to do so. How much blood has been shed? How many families have lost their sons and daughters, fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters, so that we can live a life full of choices and oppurtunities? One very important way that we can honor those who have served and those who are serving is to get out and VOTE!!!

Besides, if you don't vote you really have no right to complain when you don't like the way things turn out.

New Prophet

This morning the church held a press conference and introduced our new first presidency. Thomas S. Monson is our new church president and prophet. Henry B. Eyring is his first counselor and Dieter F. Uchtdorf is his second counselor.
It felt so wonderful to see these three great men walk out to sit at the press conference and know that these men were called by Heavenly Father to lead the members of his church.

I'd love a day at the beach...

Today has been very, very long. Taylor woke up crying, demanding "eggs on toast". So, we had to get Daddy to teach me how to make this beloved treat. (Chris loves them when he doesn't feel good, and now so does Taylor.)
Later I decided that Taylor needed a bath before church. He was very excited and wanted two hot wheels in his bath with him. All was well and good, until I turned the water off. Taylor had the biggest fit I think he has ever had. He started splashing water and screaming at the top of his lungs. I went in and calmly pulled the plug to let the water out. He told me to get out of the bathroom and started screaming and splashing until all of the water was gone, then he screamed and kicked until he was completely dry and exhausted.
About this time I found out that Chris was going to have to work today and I thought, "Wow, it will be extremely fun at church today." My parents are in our ward and are very helpful, but when Taylor wants me and Lylee wants me it just doesn't matter how much help anyone is. I put Taylor in his room and told him to watch a movie while I got ready for church.
Thankfully, Lylee was having a nap much of the morning (a first since we started 1:00 church).
I got all ready and went in to check on Taylor. He was almost asleep in his room. He looked at me and told me that he did not feel very well (no, really????) and that he didn't want to go to church. Oh and by the way he told me several times, "I don't like you mom."
I decided that I didn't stand a chance at church so we stayed home. Both kids slept through most of church, so I did get a break. As soon as Taylor woke up he cuddled up next to me and told me, "I don't like you Mom, Daddy is the best."
Finally, around 7:30 pm Taylor decided that he likes me again.
Anyone else for a day at the beach???
