I Found Something to Keep Me Busy While I Wait for Twilight

I read this book for our ward's book club. While I had it, both my mom and Chris' mom read it as well. It is such a wonderful book and I absolutely loved it!!! My mom went to the movies tonight and... Surprise!!!! The Secret Live of Bees is being released in theaters on October 17!!! I am definately going! The cast looks amazing, Queen Latifah, Dakota Fanning, Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keyes and more. If you want to check out the movie I included the link to the official movie website. I really, really recommend this book and I hope the movie lives up to it!!!

Taylor Jay is 4 Today!!!

Well, technically Taylor is 4 today, but he turned 4 yesterday. We decided to start a new family tradition and go out for breakfast on your birthday. Grandma, Jac and Hyrum joined us.

We decided that we would let Taylor have a "real" birthday party this Year. You know, lots of kids, fun food, a Kay-at-a (pinata).

We went to a local park and had lots of Taylor's friends from school, church and our neighbors. We were also lucky enough to have Great-Grandma Janice, Grandma Vicki, Grandpa Bob, Jacci, Pete and Hyrum.

Everyone had lots of fun. It was great for Taylor to see all of his friends together having a great time. Everyone loved Daddy's "special punch"!

Taylor is into what he calls "art projects", and he also insisted that we "absolutely must" have party hats. We bought some solid colored hats and then got some of those sticky foam shapes for the kids to decorate their own hat. I had no idea what a hit this would be. I think every kid made one.

After the party, we came home and threw our 2 filthy and tired kids into the shower. When I tucked Taylor in last night, I couldn't help but stay with him longer than usual. I can hardly believe that 4 years ago he was taken away to the hospital nursery immediately after I gave birth to him. I got up at 3:00 am and one of the nurses came in my room. She took me down to the nursery to finally hold my sweet baby. I never wanted to let go.

I felt the same way last night as I watched him fall asleep.

Good Night Pooh Bear

So, Taylor HATES going to sleep at night. Every night he tries various tactics to avoid going to bed. You know, I'm hungry, I'm thirsty, I'm scared of the dark, There are monsters in my room, etc... My personal favorite is "I don't want to be all awone!" It's just so sad and pathetic. At times he gets so desperate that it's hard not to laugh.

Tonight Taylor was exceptionally tired after a big day. I finally told him that he absolutely must stay in bed and that I would check on him in ten minutes (this actually works most nights). He stayed in his bed and grumbled. A few minutes later he started calling out for his dad. Only he wasn't saying dad. Taylor was yelling, "Christopher! Christopher!" Chris had gone out for a few minutes, so he couldn't answer. (For some reason I have to be bad cop at bedtime.)

Taylor realized that his strategy wasn't working, soon I heard, "Christopher! Christopher Robin! Christopher Robin!" This was one of Chris' least favorite nicknames growing up. If only he was here to hear it.

A very short time after the third or fourth demand of Winnie the Pooh's little boy friend, Taylor konked out.

Parents Beware!

We try really hard to keep all household remotes hidden, mostly from Lylee, and mostly so she doesn't hide them from us. Well, now we have a couple of new reasons to keep the TV remotes away from Lylee. On Thursday, I was having a little nap and I woke up and discovered that there was a movie playing on the TV in our bedroom. I was confused, because I know that we don't own this movie and I also know that it was too new to be on TV yet. I was watching "Nim's Island" with Lylee. She had somehow ordered not one, but two movies on demand. Thankfully, the other one was "Peggy Sue Got Married", which was a horrible movie, but at least that one was free! "Nim's Island" was $4.99!

We didn't want to completely waste our money, so we watched "Nim's Island" and it was a pretty cute movie.

Then, yesterday morning I was watching "The View" on the TV in the front room. At first I was thinking that they either had a really bad camera person, or one that really didn't like John McCain (They kept cutting his head off during the interview. I was utterly amused and confused at the same time.) When the show was over, I changed the station and realized that peoples heads were being cut off on lots and lots of channels.

Lylee struck again! She found some magic button on the Comcast remote that made the picture bigger that the screen. It took me at least twenty minutes to figure that one out.

All I keep thinking is that this little girl is only 18 months old, and that I could be in for a lot of trouble! At least she's pretty much quit eating dirt.

Back to School!!!

Is this a happy kid, or what??? We went to the little "Meet the Teacher" meeting a week or two ago and when it was time to leave, I told Taylor that it was time to go and he gave me a big hug and a big smile and said, "Bye Mom, I'll miss you!" I actually felt bad bringing my sad little boy home. So you can probably imagine how happy we all were when Taylor got to start his second year of preschool today. Wahoo!!!

My Cutie Pies

I wanted to get a picture of the cute skirt that I made Lylee. Taylor was such a good big brother, showing her how to stand and making her smile. It's so fun to watch these two grow up together and see their big brother ~ little sister relationship develop a little more every day!
